Week 11 -- Moab, Utah

Team…

Besides the first week, two weeks ago was our weakest one yet. Participants are dropping like flies. James is still in the van. Hillari lost her pedometer and is therefore relegated to the van. Sareny lost hers. We need to regroup! Come on, guys, we can do it!

Steps
This week we walked 292,494 steps, which is 117 miles. Not our best showing, but that’s ok!

Top Walkers
Our top walker this week is Alexis, with 74,157 steps. Woo hoo! Word on the street is that she worked so hard she got shin splints. :( Keep walking, but get better! Next is Dad, with 60,893 steps. Our third place walker is Mom, with 58,787 steps. Good job everyone!

Where are we now?
As you recall, last time we were 103 miles past Hite, Utah, sort of in the middle of nowhere.

This past week, we walked 72 miles to Moab, Utah, and I think we all know where it is, but do you know where the name Moab came from? “The name Moab is a Biblical name for a land just short of the Promised Land. The Moabites were historically regarded as the perpetual enemy of the Israelites, "God's Chosen People." Physically, the region was a green, verdant valley in the middle of a serious desert; an emerald in the sand, so to speak. Because of those similarities, our little town was dubbed Moab by Mormon settlers in the 1800's.”

There are just so many pretty pictures of Moab out there, but here are a couple:

Then we walked 45 miles, which left us in the middle of nowhere, but next week we’ll be at the Colorado border!

To sum up
Steps walked this week: 292,494
Miles walked this week: 117
Total miles walked: 1458
Where we are: 45 miles past Moab, Utah
Where we’re going: Colorado border!!!

Keep on a goin!

Love,
Holli

James has inherited a "dedometer" from dad, so he is out of the van finally!

I feel like it has taken us forever and we're not even out of Utah yet! I am going to try to STEP it up this week to contribute to our getting the heck out of here!
