Week 20 -- Garden City and Dodge City, Kansas

avaHello, walkers! Here’s the update from last week.

Steps
This week we walked 347,171 steps, which is 139 miles.

Top Walkers
Our top walker this week is Lexi, with 64,205 steps. Next is Mom, with 54,598 steps. And our third place walker is John, with 39,982 steps. And Keith, next week you are officially eligible for the top three. Okay?!!!

Where are we now?
As you recall, last time we were 46 miles past Coolidge, Kansas, in the middle of nowhere.

So this week we walked 32 miles and got to Garden City, Kansas. Garden City is a city in Finney County, Kansas. The population is around 30,000. The most interesting fact I found about it is that it was a town featured in Truman Capote’s book In Cold Blood.

Then we walked 64 miles and got to Dodge City, Kansas. Dodge City is the county seat of Ford County. The population is around 25,000. The city’s name is well known because the radio and television Western Gunsmoke was set in Dodge City. Did you know that? I didn’t.

We’re cruising along in Kansas. We walked 43 more miles but didn’t get anywhere else. Next stop is Kinsley, Kansas, and then Great Bend, Kansas.
