Week 5 -- Virginia City and Middlegate, Nevada

Hey, Team RonKeeLarstrom! Here’s the update of where we were as of this past Friday!

Our steps
This week: 321,717 (128 miles) compared with --

1st week: 110,840 steps (44 miles)
2nd week: 212,588 steps (85 miles)
3rd week: 405,709 steps (162 miles)
4th week: 326,286 steps (130 miles)

So we’re still doing pretty good, but could be doing better!

Our top walkers
Mom got 52,578 steps, John was close behind with 44,999 steps, and James had 40,778 steps. Another honorable mention to Cassidy and Dad, who were close behind in the 38,000 range.

Where are we now?
Last week we made it to the Nevada State line and then walked 86 miles into Nevada, in the middle of nowhere.

This week we walked 13 miles to get to Virginia City, NV, that cute little ghost town that’s near Reno and our state capitol. I’m not sure why we chose to ignore the state capitol, but we did. We took a little walking tour of Virginia City, and then we moved on.

Then we walked 99 miles to Middlegate, NV. Description: “appears to be mostly a bar and a few houses.” (Perhaps that’s why I’ve never heard of it…) We tossed our shoes on the ‘Shoe Tree’ and then kept going.

Oh, and while at the Shoe Tree, we met this random guy. He was nice.

Then we walked 16 more miles past Middlegate. We’re kind of in the middle of nowhere again, but we’re close to Ione, NV, then on to the South Twin Campground in the Toiyabe Range (near Nye County, NV).

To sum up:

Steps walked this week: 321,717
Miles walked this week: 128
Total miles walked: 549
Where we are: 16 miles past Middlegate, NV
Where we’re going: Pressing onward through Nevada – toward Ione, NV, South Twin Campground in the Toiyabe mountain range, then Pine Creek Campground near Tonopah, NV

Keep walking!

Love,
Holli
